Why I stopped song writing for a season
In 2019 I was writing and preparing to release new music the following year but God had other plans. A global pandemic hit and these plans were put on hold indefinitely as I had to focus all my spare time on leading my church’s worship and creative team through this period. The pandemic really changed things for the whole world and especially for churches which required significant investment of time and resources. We had to reimagine how we did church. We could no longer meet in person and do what we did previously if we wanted to still deliver an engaging church experience for our congregations. Our goal was to keep them connected with God’s word and His church. We had to research and get coaching on how to do church online, buy and implement new hardware and software in our workflow, recruit and train our people in the newly created production team roles. It has certainly been a challenging period where I have personally learnt a lot and am very grateful for my teams support and the new skills we have developed. I am really looking forward to God willing in 2023 finishing the project I set out to complete before the pandemic, releasing some new songs with the added benefit of now applying all the learnings I’ve had in online production to this project.
